Netflix has delivered some real gems this year, and according to their official rankings, these top 10 shows are definitely worth your time. From edge-of-your-seat thrillers to laugh-out-loud comedies, 2024’s lineup has something for everyone. So, settle in and enjoy these must-watch series that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
1. IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack: Limited Series
This series on Netflix is addictive, but it gets really going after episode 4 or so. It’s based on this insane true incident in Indian history where five hijackers took 200 people hostage. Admittedly quite gripping, the initial episodes are somewhat boring and confusing because there are just too many characters and plotlines running one after the other. But hey, the real footage, awesome VFX, and gripping background music get you totally hooked! Even though there are some weird choices, like giving the hijackers Indian names, the performances are amazingly well done, and the show absolutely nails the tension. Seriously, stick with it- it’s definitely worth watching! This series has been trending on Netflix since 1 week.
2. The Perfect Couple: Limited Series
Well, this series was addictive, yet at the same time, nothing particularly great. The plot is pretty simple: a girl’s about to marry into a rich family, and then on her wedding day, she finds her best friend’s body washed up on the beach. With big names in the cast, including Nicole Kidman, Dakota Fanning, and Liev Schreiber, the acting is good, but honestly, the script doesn’t give them any credit. It’s slow in parts, with clunky dialogue and not much character development. On several accounts, it does feel like an overlong “Monk” or “Death in Paradise” episode. And really, how many shots of someone standing and staring out to sea do we need?
That being said, the mystery element is fun, and it does keep you until the end guessing. The setting is beautiful, and some of the performances are really enjoyable. If you’re in the mood for an easy Sunday watch, then it’s worth checking out, but just don’t expect anything groundbreaking. It’s in Netflix’s top 10, so it’s still popular, and it’s not all bad!
3. Tribhuvan Mishra CA Topper: Season 1
This show is about a middle-aged guy who starts working as a male prostitute to help out his family, and it just gets crazier from there. It’s just this crazy combination of dark comedy, crime drama, and some plot twists you totally wouldn’t see coming. The characters are really interesting, and the way it’s directed and executed is just perfect.
But hey, it’s not for everybody. Quirky humor-eh, and a few logical errors you can live with, then you should totally check it out. The show is full of laughter and suspense, even though one or two moments may feel a little weird. I mean, sometimes the pacing can get a little all over the place.
But if you like quirky, dark comedies and a good plot twist, this one’s a fun choice-especially since it’s still in Netflix’s top 10! This series is trending on Netflix for 7 weeks.
4. Love Next Door: Limited Series
“Love Next Door” might seem like your usual love story, but trust me, there’s way more to it! The show digs into Korean culture and highlights how parents are always comparing their kids, which makes it super funny and totally relatable.
Meet the woman who goes back to Korea, trying to restart her life, and gets to spend time with her childhood friend-the messy and super sweet moments ensue. The funny and deeper feels are balanced really nicely, and you will definitely crack up at the wild family scenes, for sure. Jung Hae In and So Min just knock it out of the water in terms of performance, and the vibe between the characters is amazing.
This show’s got awesome actors, killer music, and a story that really hits home, so it’s no wonder it’s in Netflix’s top 10! You’ve gotta check it out if you’re into feel-good dramas that mix in some laughs and heart. This tv show has been trending on Netflix for 3 weeks.
5. Emily in Paris: Season 4
I was really looking forward to season 4, mainly because it is still within the top 10 on Netflix. But honestly, this season was kind of all over the place in terms of writing. They would start these awesome storylines and then just utterly forget about them. Like, Alfie gets pulled back in by Emily and then just gets ignored again with no wrap-up in sight. It’s as if he never mattered, and Emily does not even mention it. On the other hand, the #MeToo arc with Sylvie had potential and was wrapped up a bit too quickly without lasting impact.
There are definitely still some standout moments. The show’s got its charm, and characters like Sylvie and Mindy totally steal the show. They really need more attention! Even though this season doesn’t have the same tension and strong plot as the earlier ones, it’s still fun to watch. If you’re already into the series, it’s definitely worth hanging in there for the characters we adore!
6. KAOS
If you like Greek mythology but are just looking for a new and modern take on things, you absolutely need to check out Kaos. Light, funny, and so casual-just the right kind of show you can binge-watch all in one day. Of course, the show takes those classic myths and puts some real fun into them-something not especially appealing to some purists-but it makes the stories even more relatable. Jeff Goldblum as Zeus steals the show, of course; paranoid, midlife-crisis Zeus is the perfect way to handle the character, and really, the cast does a fantastic job with the characters.
The show does a great job of balancing humor and mythology. The pacing is smooth, the soundtrack rocks, and the whole atmosphere is laid back. A few have mentioned it feels like American Gods, but Kaos just seems so much funnier and less serious. Yeah, it’s not exactly true to the myths, but that’s kind of part of its charm. It gets into how stories evolve over time and which parts get left behind or changed to suit the moment.
If you want something fun that doesn’t take itself too seriously, Kaos is a blast.
7. Mamla Legal Hai: Season 1
This series is a terrific choice if you’re looking for something lighthearted, humorous, and positive; it’s presently ranked in the Top 10 on Netflix. It revolves around the cutthroat worlds of politics and law, but with a lighthearted, carefree tone that makes for an extremely engaging read. With Ravi Kishan giving a fantastic performance, the cast is strong and the character interaction keeps each episode interesting.
The plot is gradually revealed in each episode, which keeps things intriguing and new. Plus, it’s easier to watch and more laid back than the typical heated courtroom drama. Although there are a few scenes with graphic language, this is still an excellent series that you can watch with your family.
If you’re trying to find something amusing without stressing you out, this one’s definitely worth checking out.
8. The Railway Men – The Untold Story Of Bhopal 1984: Limited Series
The Railway Men is a powerful and emotional series that takes us back to the Bhopal gas tragedy of 1984. It’s not just a story about a disaster—it’s about the bravery of the railway workers who risked their lives to save thousands during one of the deadliest industrial accidents in history. With amazing performances from KK Menon, R Madhavan, Babil, and Munna Bhaiya, the show really brings this haunting story to life.
What stands out is how real everything feels, from the set design to the portrayal of 1980s Bhopal. The series also dives into the tragic aftermath, exposing how Union Carbide failed to help and the long-term health issues that still affect the survivors today.
If you want a show that’s not only gripping but also leaves you thinking, The Railway Men is a must-watch. It’s a moving tribute to the unsung heroes of Bhopal, and a stark reminder of the consequences of corporate negligence.
9. Breathless: Season 1
If you’re a fan of Grey’s Anatomy, you’ll understand the spirit of this Spanish series: it’s full of drama. While it follows the traditional format of hospital-based soap operas, the acting is rather good, letting you forget it’s all written at moments.
The program does address a variety of societal concerns and themes, yet it occasionally feels forced. It isn’t innovative, but it’s also not a complete failure. Give it a try and see if it works for you!
10. The Accident: Season 1
“The Accident” has gotten mixed reviews, and I can see why. It tackles some pretty big issues-poverty and domestic violence-both super relevant. Over four episodes, the pacing is decent with real dramatic moments. The acting’s solid, too-Sarah Lancashire and Joanna Scanlan put in great performances, even if Lancashire’s Welsh accent feels superfluous.
Direction’s a bit clunky at times, and the accents can get distractingly prominent-especially if you know Welsh dialects. Even with those issues, though, the relationships built up and emotional punch of the tragedy work pretty solidly. It’s not perfect, and will likely not hit as hard as other pieces from the same writer, but it is still worth seeing, especially with the ramping intense drama.
Honestly, it is quite a good watch and still holding up within Netflix’s top 10!
