Hi, guyzz!
You know how sometimes you feel like watching something emotional but funny? ‘I Want to Talk’ might be the movie for you. Directed by Shoojit Sircar and starring Abhishek Bachchan, this movie deals with life and death and how to remain smiling in between. While it has some great scenes, it’s not perfect. Let’s talk about it!
‘I want to talk’ Movie Guide:

What Is the Movie All About?
The movie is inspired by the life of one of the director’s friends, who fought cancer with courage and humor. Abhishek plays Arjun Sen, a marketing professional living in the US. His happy life is turned upside down when he finds that he has cancer.
The film shows how the pressures of being unwell do not allow a very worried Arjun to remain strong in front of his daughter, Reya. It has its share of sad and funny moments, like when his daughter asks him to let her touch his bald head after chemotherapy. These little scenes make the movie a real one.
What’s Great About It?
Abhishek Bachchan is the heart of this film. His acting is brilliant. He shows Arjun’s pain, humor, and strength perfectly. You’ll laugh and cry with him.
Ahilya Bamroo, who plays Reya, also does a fantastic job. She captures the feelings of a teenager dealing with a sick dad and divorced parents. Even Johny Lever, though he’s only in a few scenes, brings smiles whenever he’s on screen.
The strongest parts of direction by Shoojit Sircar are definitely in the still scenes where Arjun is by himself. The visuals are also beautiful, depicting his loneliness in a manner that touches your heart.
What Could Be Better?
The first half of the movie, perhaps overly so, is too long. Some scenes could have been shorter. Then again, the second half should feel a little more rushed, so it feels a bit like too much happening too quickly. It is annoying.
The last part of the story is confusing, too. It’d be great if they cut off the marathon scene-it’s just out of place and has little meaning. The part when two characters die in the second half hurts less, too, because we don’t get to know them well enough.
The quiet tone is nice in the film, but it sometimes feels too silent. A few more emotional moments might have made it easier to connect to the characters.
Should You Watch It?
It turns out to be a tear-jerking but thought-provoking tale: life is precious even at its worst moments. With heart-wrenching performances, more so by Abhishek Bachchan, it is a film that shall ‘mean’ to you.
However, it is not a film that calls for an instant visit to the cinema either. The lack of slack in the pacing and lowkey tone makes it even better suited for OTT viewing, where you can take your time and reflect.
It’s definitely a movie that should be watched by everybody who is a fan of Abhishek Bachchan. Brilliant on-screen presence as Arjun Sen, he would be engraved in the minds and touched hearts while proofing the successful power of acting complex characters.
So, if you enjoy heartfelt movies with some humor, give this one a try. Let me know what you think when you watch it!
